Richard Hayward Properties (RHP) has been granted planning consent for a new 2,820 sq ft bar and restaurant at 12 The Strand in Swansea city centre. The new restaurant is already under offer. At the same time, RHP has agreed a regear of Freestyle Gyms Limited’s lease on 1,160 sq ft on the ground floor of 13 The Strand.

A planning application was submitted to Swansea Council in September 2015 for the redevelopment of these period buildings in The Strand, just off Swansea’s popular Wind Street food and beverage area. They are adjacent to Coastal Housing’s new Urban Village mixed-use development and linked to the regenerated SA1 Maritime Quarter. They are also located close to the Vue and Odeon multiplex cinemas as well as Bowlplex and Plantasia. Its development will bring further vitality to the area.

Although The Strand was not included in the Wind Street rejuvenation of the early 2000s, it is still within the Wind Street conservation area of the city. The development aims to retain as much of the original building as possible, once part of the old Swansea Docks warehousing area, and has been designed in conjunction with Swansea Council’s urban designers.
