Richard Hayward Properties has sold the former Lineker’s bar on the High Street in Newport to Amber Taverns Ltd.

An attractive period property in the heart of the rapidly regenerating Newport city centre, the property provides a ground floor unit of 3,455 sq ft with frontages to High Street and Cambrian Road. It also includes three upper floors and a basement.

The company plans to refurbish the high profile building to a high standard. It will then be operated with Amber’s signature mix of a wide drinks selection and audio-visual package that will include major sports events programmes.

Amber Taverns Ltd has 130 managed public houses in its portfolio, which stretches across Wales as well as the North West, North East and Midlands of England. They are currently actively looking for more sites throughout South Wales.

Principal of RHP, Richard Hayward, said: “This is a great location for a company like Amber Taverns and the new bar will add to Newport’s leisure offer.”

EJ Hales acted for RHP.
