Built in the 1960s, the 90,000 sq ft Olympia House is a nine-storey building, which previously housed the Passport Office.

RHP, with its jv partner Tonstate, is to redevelop the building into 62 residential units for private rental, with shops and restaurants on the lower levels.

Initial work clearing out internal areas and removing asbestos has been completed and the partners are waiting for confirmation of grant approvals ahead of a start on site.

Big brand sports retailer Sports Direct opened a 23,000 sq ft store previously occupied by Marks & Spencer in August.  It opened a brand new fitness club in December 2015.
The remaining lower level retail units are also all let.

As one of the largest buildings in Newport, the redevelopment of Olympia House will support the regeneration of the city, helping to bring residents back into the centre creating improved vibrancy and a greater sense of community.
