ELECTRONICS FIRM EXPANDS SWANSEA HQ BEFORE MOVING IN


Electronics firm Trojan is expanding its new HQ at Richard Hayward Properties’ Kings Dock, part of the regeneration of the former Visteon works to the east of Swansea, before it has even moved in to the building.

Last summer (2014), in one of the largest industrial lettings in South Wales in many years, Trojan Electronics signed a 15-year lease on bespoke HQ totalling 156,000 sq ft. Now the rapidly growing company has agreed to take another 26,000 sq ft – all the remaining space in the building.

Work is now well underway to fit out the HQ, which comprises a large production facility, service yard plus 17,000 sq ft of office space. The project also includes parking for 240 cars, landscaping and a new access road. Trojan is expected to take full occupation building by the end of April (2015).

Established in 2002, Swansea-based Trojan is Europe’s largest services group in providing electronics goods disposal, repair & refurbishment, multichannel ecommerce and sub-contract manufacturing. The company focuses on maximising asset recovery, minimising landfill requirements and reducing the costs to customers ranging from SMEs to some of the world’s largest multinationals. The move to Kings Dock will allow Trojan to consolidate operations from a number of smaller facilities and almost double its staff.

The 182,000 sq ft Kings Dock Building is part of Richard Hayward Properties’ phased regeneration of 45-acres of the former Visteon Works. The site is ideally located close to junction 42 of the M4, adjacent to Amazon’s 800,000 sq ft distribution centre and across the road from Swansea University’s new Bay Campus.

The multi-million pound Kings Dock project has been supported by investment from the Welsh Government including a £1.5m property development grant to Gracelands Investments Limited as well as a £625,000 business grant to Trojan.
