Today Bowler modifies Land Rovers for events throughout the globe, most notably the world’s most famous and toughest off-road race, the Dakar Rally.
Bowler has also developed its own UK rally series, the Defender Challenge, which consists of seven rounds of hill and stage rallies which are spread across the UK throughout the year.
With Richard’s support and advice, the company is going from strength to strength.
The new factory, Leonard House, is a hive of activity and regularly welcomes celebrities and dignitaries from around the world that are interested in buying Bowler cars.
With strong demand for the Defender in its final year of manufacture, the Bowler version is selling in high numbers. Indeed, Bowler now sells as many of its road cars as it can manufacture, with healthy order books.
It has developed a range of military vehicles to broaden its business base and built 11 special vehicles which appeared in a major blockbuster action movie which was released at the end of 2015.
Bowler has now developed its own chassis and will be introducing a new vehicle, which uses Landrover parts, to add to the Defender Challenge which will enhance the series. The car will be faster and more exciting to drive. The existing Defender will continue to be raced. The chassis will also be used in the Military Vehicles.
Richard regularly drives for Bowler Motorsport, competing in the UK series as well as rallies in Europe and North Africa.
